FAQ

I submitted my application but my passport is expiring soon — what should I do?

Your passport must remain valid throughout the entire processing period and ideally for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay. If it is close to expiring, renew it before submission — or let us know immediately so we can factor this into your timeline.

I already have a residence permit but recently changed apartments — does the Ministry need to know?

Yes, and this is often overlooked. Any change of residential address must be officially reported to the Foreign Police within 30 days of moving. We handle this notification as part of our additional services so nothing slips through.

My employer wants to change my job title and responsibilities — could this affect my permit?

Potentially, yes. If your permit was issued for a specific position and the role changes significantly, it may require an update or a new application. We recommend consulting us before any employment changes are formalized.

Can I run a business while holding a long-term residence permit issued for employment?

Not automatically. Operating a business typically requires a separate trade license and may affect your permit status. This is something we assess carefully during the consultation phase.

I was previously refused a Schengen visa — does that affect my residence permit application?

A prior refusal does not automatically disqualify you, but it will be part of your immigration history and may raise questions. Transparency and thorough documentation are key in such cases, and our team knows exactly how to present your application in the strongest possible way.

My degree was issued in a non-EU country — will Czech authorities recognize it?

Recognition depends on the institution, the country, and the field of study. It is not automatic. We provide dedicated support for the recognition process, which can be relevant if your permit application or employment depends on your qualifications being validated.

I want to bring my parents to live with me — do they qualify for family reunification?

Family reunification is primarily designed for spouses and minor children. Parents may qualify under specific conditions, but it requires a more detailed assessment. We can review your situation and advise on the most viable route.

What if I leave the Czech Republic for an extended period — could I lose my permit?

Yes. Extended absence — typically more than 6 consecutive months outside the country — can result in permit cancellation. If you are planning a long trip abroad, it is worth discussing the implications with us in advance.

Is there a path from a residence permit to permanent residency or citizenship?

Yes. After holding a continuous long-term residence permit for five years, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency. Citizenship has additional requirements, including language proficiency and integration criteria. We can outline the full pathway during your consultation.
